Frequently asked questions
Everything you might want to know about combining, merging and stitching images with ImagesCombine — the free, fully client-side tool.
How do I combine multiple images into one?
Add two or more images (drag & drop or the file picker), pick a layout — vertical stack, horizontal row, grid or collage — adjust spacing and format, then click Download. The merged image is generated instantly in your browser.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API. Your images never leave your device, which makes the tool private by design and usable offline once the page has loaded.
Which image formats are supported?
You can add JPG, PNG and WebP images. The combined result can be exported as PNG (lossless, supports transparency), JPEG (smaller files, supports a background color) or WebP (good compression with optional transparency).
Is there a limit on how many images I can combine?
Combine 2–20 images, or start with one image in Freeform. Each source file can be up to 40 MB. Output is capped at 16,384 pixels per edge and 140 megapixels in total; your browser may run out of memory below those limits.
Can I reorder the images before merging?
Yes. Drag the thumbnails to rearrange them, or use the move up/down buttons on each thumbnail. The order you see is the order used in the combined output (left to right, top to bottom).
Can I combine photos side by side?
Yes. Pick Horizontal to put photos next to each other in thumbnail order. Use it for before-and-after photos or product comparisons. Vertical stacks images top to bottom. Neither mode automatically aligns overlapping panorama shots.
How do I merge screenshots into one long image?
Use the Vertical layout with the spacing set to 0 — each screenshot attaches directly under the previous one, producing a single long scrolling image. It works well for chat conversations, documents and full-page captures.
Can I arrange images freely anywhere on the canvas?
Yes — the Freeform layout lets you drag each image to any position, resize it with the corner handle and layer them (order in the thumbnail list sets which image sits on top). Choose a canvas shape like 16:9, square or 9:16 story.
Can I make a photo collage or mood board?
Yes — the Collage preset gives an instant layout, and Freeform lets you drag, resize and layer photos anywhere on a canvas in shapes like 16:9, square or 9:16. Add rounded corners, shadows and borders for a scrapbook or mood-board look.
Is this image combiner free?
Yes. You can combine images and download the result for free, with no account or watermark. The same file-count and browser-size limits apply to every project.
Does combining images reduce their quality?
PNG avoids extra lossy compression, but resizing can still change sharpness. JPEG and WebP use adjustable lossy quality; 90% is a starting point, not a guarantee of identical pixels. For screenshots, choose PNG and Keep original sizes in a stack layout.
Does it work on phones and tablets?
Yes. The tool works in any modern browser — Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox — on desktop, iOS and Android. No app install is required.
