Combine photos side by side

Side-by-side photos are everywhere: before-and-after shots, product comparisons, “then and now” posts, outfit checks. Putting two pictures next to each other takes seconds — no app install, no uploads, no watermark.

Step 1 — Add your photos

Open the image combiner and drop in the photos you want next to each other — or paste them from the clipboard. The thumbnail order is the order they appear in, left to right, so add the “before” photo first.

Step 2 — Pick the Horizontal layout

Select Horizontal. Keep Scale to match on so both photos get the same height — this is what makes a comparison look clean. If you want to keep each photo's original dimensions, switch to Keep original sizes and align them top, middle or bottom.

Step 3 — Space it out

A small spacing gap (8–24 px) between photos reads better than edge-to-edge, and a little outer padding frames the pair. Add a corner radius or drop shadow for a card look. JPEG export needs a background color — white is the safe default.

Step 4 — Download

Check the live preview, then hit Combine & download. PNG keeps the sharpest result for screenshots and text; JPEG is smaller for photos.

Common questions

How do I put two pictures side by side?

Add both images to the combiner, pick the Horizontal layout and they will sit next to each other — left image first. Use “Scale to match” so both get the same height, then download.

How do I make a before and after photo?

Add the “before” image first and the “after” image second (order in the thumbnail list is the order in the output), choose Horizontal, and add a little spacing between them for clarity.

Do the two photos need to be the same size?

No — with “Scale to match” the tool scales both images to the same height automatically while keeping their aspect ratios. With “Keep original sizes” you can align them top, middle or bottom instead.
